If there’s one thing we make a lot of on our homestead, it’s bone broth. Our recipe is quite simple and easy to make. One thing we love about it is that it has lots of flavor, lots of nutrients and has a smooth texture.
Our homemade bone broth recipe is delicious and nutritious.
A really good bone broth needs to cook for several days. Some people do this with their crock-pots. We tried that and didn’t have much luck, so we cook ours on top of the stove. There are three elements that make our homemade bone broth recipe special.
First, we use the bones from our farm raised chickens. Your broth will only be as good as your birds. Store bought birds work just fine, just know they probably have more hormones than farm raised free range birds.
Second, we add chicken feet to our bone broth. Did you know the most nutritious part of the bird is its feet? I know it sounds gross, but it’s really what makes our broth so good!
Thirdly, we strain our broth through tea towels to give it a really smooth texture.
So next time you make a homemade bone broth recipe keep these three elements in mind. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and ready to can it so you’ve got quarts and quarts on hand.
